South African hospitality establishments scored top marks in this years Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards with Cape based Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve earning the title of the World’s Best Hotel and Sabi Private Game Reserve following in third place.

The results of the survey were announced on Friday in the USA on NBC’s Today Show. Bushmans Kloof scored a strong 98.7 points, ahead of second place Oberoi Vanyavilas in Ranthabhore, India which scored 98.
  

Now in its 14th year, the World's Best Awards survey asks readers to rate hotels based on the following criteria: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value.
 
Situated at the foot of the Cederberg Mountains, north of Cape Town, Bushmans Kloof, an exclusive five-star retreat, is no stranger to awards. The hotel has previously been named among Forbes Traveler’s 400 best hotels and National Geographic’s Top 50 Eco Lodges.

Similarly  Sabi has consistently ranked in the World’s Best Top 10 Hotels since 2004. The hotel’s 3rd place ranking in this year’s survey is its best ranking yet.
Other South African hotels that featured in the Top 15 include Singita Sabi Sands (6) and The Twelve Apostles (15).
 
In the Cities category of the survey Cape Town was voted the second best city in the world after Udaipur, India followed by Bangkok, Thailand. Readers were asked to rank cities according to their sights and sounds, culture and arts scene restaurants, people and shopping.
 
Commenting on the awards, Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, told iAfrica: "We are delighted with the recognition that Cape Town consistently receives as one of the world’s favourite and most remarkable destinations.”
