Location, location, location! When picking a hotel for a city break, this is probably the first factor that I consider, and you can't do better in Cape Town than Protea Hotel North Wharf.
This 4-star hotel is situated on the Foreshore, a short walk away from the V&A Waterfront, with great access to the CBD, which makes it the perfect choice for both business travellers and tourists wanting to explore the city or take in the night life.
Protea Hotel North Wharf has a classy, contemporary style. The rooms are large – ours was a one-bedroom apartment, complete with its own fully equipped kitchen with stylish Smeg appliances, a dining area, lounge and balcony with spectacular views over the city and towards the harbour.
The apartment has two TVs – a large flatscreen in the lounge, with its own DVD player and a selection of DStv channels, as well as a smaller TV in the bedroom.
A selection of DVDs is available from reception, so we spent a lazy afternoon watching movies in the comfort of our own apartment.
A funky pool deck on the roof of the hotel is available for guests, and offers incredible views across Cape Town. The Cape Town Hotel's gym is open 24-hours, and if available to guests, free of charge.
We chose to eat in ahead of an evening out on the town. In-room dining was provided by Subarshi, which offers an extensive range of Asian cuisine. But being situated in the heart of Cape Town, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to dining options.
Overall, we loved this hotel. It's large, well equipped rooms make it a home away from home, and its location makes it the perfect base for a Cape Town holiday. Source: News24.com - www.news24.com
