Jul 16, 2009:
Pretoria can be a real adventure - it's a buzzing city with great architecture and a burgeoning nightlife scene... Come with us as we put the city's hotspots at your finger tips...
Must sleep at: Protea Hotel Waterfront
The Protea Hotel Waterfront and Suites is located on the safe and tranquil Centurion Waterfront. So you have direct access to a shopping complex, restaurant, bars, boutiques, cinemas and banks.
Built in 1998, this hotel boasts 151 rooms. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, complemented by an outdoor pool and sundeck overlooking the lake; ideal for sundowners.
Protea Hotel Waterfront now also has a new a la carte restaurant, Emanzini, which is located on the waters edge and offers a contemporary African experience. Another new addition is a trendy bar and lounge, including a smoking lounge.
Must eat at: Café Riche
Cafe Riche is a place where you may expect to spot someone sitting in a corner with a beret and a philosophy treatise. It's a breath of fresh air in the centre of the city. It's also a great respite for tourists and the inner-city business fraternity, as well as the perfect late-night, after-theatre stop for coffee, croissants and intellectual talk.
Their cakes include a selection of cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake and lemon meringue tart. The cuisine is as smart as the interiors, the ambience stylish and informal.
If you happen to be there for lunch, try their roast beef, ham & marinated mushrooms sandwich for only R31.00.

Must party at: Cool Runnings
Cool Runnings is a ‘Jamaican island style' themed club. It's a new concept in the food and entertainment industry. Despite the scene being highly student-like, they cater for everyone. Their ‘island style' approach is what makes them unique and successful.
Their menu ventures from food, cocktail and even shooters... so everyone is left happy.

Must see: Rock-a-tutu at the State Theatre
After premiering at the State Theatre in 2004, the Rock-a-Tutu extravaganza is back. This ballet is written by Ian von Memerty and Thandi Brewster and directed by Ian von Memerty.
The ballet was originally choreographed by members of the South African Ballet Theatre (SABT). This season will feature some new songs in addition to the original favorites.
Rock-a-Tutu blurs the boundaries between classical ballet and pop-chart hits that allows the country's leading ballet dancers to let rip in a spectacular array.
