In this sport one is - hanging on a rope from a rock - being let down (abseiled) into a gorge. The more adventurous can also do a Bungee jump into the precipice.
The operator ABSEIL AFRICA is entirely specialised in this sport. A favourite is abseiling from Table Mountain. First one gets to the top, via cable car or hiking, and then gets abseiled 112 metres deep. These trips are offered daily and cost about 250 Rand.
Not less spectacular is the Kamikaze Kanyon, 40 minutes from Cape Town. After having climbed into the gorge, one can be abseiled 65 metres deep or opt for the free fall along the waterfall into a refreshing rockpool. An unforgettable experience! Chapman's Peak near Hout Bay is another popular abseil spot.
